98ex won't start from ignition

The car won't start using the ignition I've had to rig in a push start. But it keeps frying my starters. Any clues to what is causing this, please help.

I have replaced the ignition twice. once thinking that may be the issue and the second because of lost keys. I know that it was swapped from y7 to y8. Was told it didn't work before the swap was done as well.

keep frying starters? You have a short somewhere, chase it

I mean they work for a few months but it's not an issue I'm trying to continue solving. And tbh I don't know where to start chasing from. I can do most things on my own but electrical stuff, not my strong suit.
