Title. Alternator went out. Drove it til it didn’t start like an idiot. Got it replaced. My speedometer and odometer both don’t work since then. Everything else on the dash is fine. What all could’ve got messed up when it went out?

Check the alternator bolts. If I were a betting man, I'd say one is loose. There's one bolt on the top, a bolt holding the mounting bracket to the block. another bolt underneath holding the alternator to the bracket (this is the one that you have to loosen in order to tighten the belt with the wingnut).

You will also want to check fuses.

There's wires that run right by the alternator that send the speedo and odo signal to the car

Checked the fuses and had to replace one. Bolts are all tight. Odometer and speedometer still don’t move. Other ideas?
