1999 Honda Civix LX 1.6l with p1509 code check engine light
Been trying to solve this IACV problem for months. I've got it running with a rough idle and it's idling high. Car is derivable but seems to feel like it's jerking when it shifts. From what I've learned and been told there's a problem with the IACV and that's causing the butterfly valve in the throttle body to fluctuate improperly. So that's what I'm feeling when driving. I've cleaned the IACV and then replaced it twice. First replacement was cheap so I feared it wasn't good quality. I've also purchased another computer for the car and swapped it with no luck. I took it to a mechanic and he also tried a different computer and another IACV with no luck. The engine is a D16Y7 and it had a D16Y8 intake swap. Well I went and found the entire intake setup at a junk yard and swapped mine back to stock after cleaning everything up. Still have the issue. I'm assuming the problem lies in the wiring harness but I've really dug deep trying to find anything I can wrong on it, so far nothing. As I said before I took it to a mechanic and also took it to Honda and let them try to find the problem. Engine and Trans are solid from what they've both said. Tested the wiring according to the service repair book. The only thing I've been able to do to make the problem any better is we wound the spring on the throttle body up one more turn and it made it derivable. Any help is much appreciated. This problem has been in the back of my mind driving me nuts for probably six months or more.
