Whistling noise -- front passenger area

Hi All!

I just bought a 2005 civix LX. In short, test drove the car with all windows down to vent the air as much as possible for COVID reasons with myself and the seller in the car. Drove a bit on the freeway, and everything checked out with the car, and I bought the car.

A few days later alone I took the car on the freeway for the first time and noticed that the car starts to whistle pretty loudly, coming somewhere from the front passenger space. Upon diagnosis it starts at about 37mph, and gets louder as I drive faster. Opening the windows reduces the whistle, and after they are opened past about 1 inch the whistle completely goes away. Nothing else I have done changes the whistle.

Some troubleshooting I have tried:
- Occurs with wipers running and not running
- Occurs under all conditions of AC/heat, recycle air or open vents
- Occurs in and out of gear
- Opening other windows in the car don't dramatically change the whistle, however the rear passenger window did reduce the whistle a little bit.
- I taped the seams between the mirror and the window with electrical tape and had no effect.
- I taped the door seal from the top near the b-pillar going, and forward down to the bottom near the front wheel wheel and had no effect in reducing the whistle.
- There does not appear to be any obvious gap in the door sealing.
- There is not any obvious body defect (ie. hole)
- I have to drive at the same time, but in reaching over to feel something, I have never felt any air entering the cabin or a draft.
- I think my next step is to just check the passenger side mirror, remove it and reattach it.

This is my first Honda, so far very happy with the purchase, but unfamiliar with the car.

At this point, Im mostly looking for any advice on if anyone has seen something like this before or is it common? Does anyone have any tips on diagnosing and troubleshooting these whistles? I can't imagine that this is something unsolvable and don't at all regret the purchase, but is posing a mystery so far.

I have attached a video I made with my phone while driving, holding the phone near the passenger side door where you can hear the whistle.

Look forward to hearing any advice and less whistles

My '03 Civic also whistles in more or less sort of consistent conditions. Since the whistling is vibrating air, my intuition tells
me that taping wouldn't have much of an effect as the outside air vibrates the tape and then the inside air.

Have you checked the gaskets in the area where the whistle seems to come from?

Thanks for the response and resurrection.

I checked all of the weather stripping around the passenger door, and even doubled up and tried that but also no difference not worse or better. Really, there has been 0 effect on the whistle from anything I have done. The only thing that will influence it is the wind speed generally around the car.

My mechanic thought it might be seals around the windshield? I have to change the oil next month and so am thinking to get that all done at the same time he said he knows a windshield guy who would refresh the seals without replacing the whindshield. Truthfully, I kind of gave up on it, simply because I didn't feel I was for a millisecond on the scent of what was causing it. Really there has been 0 change from any single thing I have tried.
