Door lock troubleshoot

So, while it was -30C out there, I had to kind of force the key to unlock my driver side door. 2 days ago, I felt something kind of snapped, and now the key just spins around without any lock/unlock. The keyhole is now facing 10 o' clock direction. Something must be broken.

However, I can still lock the door with: power lock from inside, or pulling inside door handle and pushing the lock down

What would be the broken part? Actual tumbler or just the rod's plastic clip?

Re: Door lock troubleshoot

Update on the situation.

So I pulled out the door panel to see what was the problem. All the plastic clips were fine, but the lock cylinder itself was dislocated.
It just had some metal wires wrapped around the screw hole? to keep it in place but I guess I dislocated it while I was jamming the key in forcefully,

I've put the cylinder back in place and tried the keys again but no joy. I don't know exactly what's going on, but it's functioning properly when I'm pulling the inside door handle(but not when I pull it all the way... around half way).
When I use the power lock, the door lock stub on top kind of shrugs, but not actually unlock/locking it.

Eventually, after putting back and pulling the door panel for 3 times- key from outside now lock/unlocks it, don't know how I fixed it but I'll have to gently key it in.
Guess this is intermittent problem now. Crap.

Re: Door lock troubleshoot

Supposed to be a metal spring clip thing holding the tumbler, not wire, might be able to put the proper clip in and fix it?

Re: Door lock troubleshoot

After a week of climbing through passenger door to unlock driver door.. I finally made up my mind and headed down to junkyard.

Picked up driver rear view mirror(mirror heater wasn't working), left door speaker(was making cracking noise when strong bass music plays) and metal clip for lock. I had spent 40 minutes trying to locate the clip from 3 cars... I really couldn't see where it was even after checking youtube videos that clearly shows it. I just started jamming the screwdriver around where it had shown me and jammed it down to find one coming out.

Apparently... my lock also had clip but was hanging half way down. I just replaced it and now it is sturdily staying even when I key it strong.

No need to stick my butt outside through passenger door anymore
