Door lock, can't lock with key or knob. 1996
Door lock, can't lock with key or ****. 1996
Hi,
I cannot lock my driver side car anymore on my 1996 DX.
My key enters the lock fine but I cannot turn it anti clockwise to lock the door.
after my research it looks like a problem with the cylinder maybe a bad tumbler or Gripped because of the cold but the strange thing is that I cannot lock the door using the car rod neither.
If I'm inside the car I cannot lock by pushing on the door rod.
Should the rod still work or not if this is a problem with the key cylinder?
Thank you

Remember, whenever the drivers door is open you must pull out on either handle before you can operate the lock.
Sounds like possibly two separate problems.... Lock cylinder is always a possibility to be needing help..lube, penetrating oil, bad tumblers, etc.
I'd say to remove the door panel and inspect.... linkage rods...detach the link from the lock cylinder and see if that allows the key to turn. If so, the cylinder needs attention. Is that all?
Does the lock part of the door latch work now?
Is the link to the interior lock button covered in sticky goo keeping it from moving? Is it jammed?
Is the latch bad?
