Hi all,
Basically I am looking to purchase CIVIC DX with about 130k on it. But I recently read online that there are problems with Engine Block cracking.
What are your suggestions is it worth the risk ?
And, is it common ?
I tried searching for probability of Engine cracking, but couldnt find any info.
Most likely I will be driving this car for another 8 or so years.
Thank in advance

this will give an idea. Personally I'd stay away from 2001 and 2006 civic but that's just my opinion.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Probability.......
On my end, it looks like I'd guess less than 5%.
That's a guess based on how many engines I have replaced so far vs. how many are in my area.

If taken care of a 2006 will last you a long time..if it cracks you get it fixed.. but like mentioned its not that common..it happens just not to every car...

I read alot that 2006 civic engine crack, but what about 2007 ? are they they same or there was an improvement?
I called Honda Canada they told me that 2006-2008 civics have the warantly but didnt mention anything about any improvement about 2006 to 2007 civics.
If there was an improvement in 2007 engine block maybe its worth overpaying slightly more and getting 2007 civic ?

Meh, it's not a biggie, chances should be extremely low...
A google search for "2006 honda civic for sale" returns 24 million results, with several of these listing having hundreds of cars for sale
Mean while a google search for "2006 honda civic engine crack" returns about 2 million results, with several being a link to the forum post on this site...
Great car, worth the risk, plus didn't they extend the warranty for this?
