hey guys so the other day im driving to the supermarket and all of a sudden the console for the windows started smoking literally and then the passenger window stopped working and still doesnt work. any idea what happened and how i can fix it?

it started smoking from the driver side console where u put the windows up and down

They have been known to cause problems, especially sedans

Can you still smell it with your nose close to switch ?

CraigW= yes the master switch and i havent smelled it but the days after it happened it smelled alot

I would take a look at it and smell it closely as well.

It will be a gamble buying the master switch... but it may solve the problem,may not.

Dealer diagnostics would be an hours labor likely.

I would say they would want 1 hour labor for diagnostics.

Repair time + part.

You could get the master switch and take the gamble that it solves the problem.

ok i think i might just get the switch and swap out myself and if it doesnt work i guess take it somewhere

Dont feel bad id rather do things like this than have someone charge me hundreds of dollars to do something simple that i could have done for a couple dollars lol so im actually thankful for your help if it solves it or not

so i had a friend look at my car and he said everything is good like the relays fuses and etc but the window still doesnt work he looked at the master switch and u could see a brownish burnt color on it and it still smells like burn but he said he would have to see how far the damage went? any help. he didnt swap out the master switch so could that be it?

The switch will likely solve it if you get one. If it smoked, and still smells then that is a sign it failed.

The good news is Honda parts are fairly priced. Get an online price for the part and see if the dealer will match or at least come off of msrp.
