Accidental Airbag Deployment
Accidental Airbag Deployment
Hello - new to the forum - Need some help deciphering the meaning of several SRS codes:
I've owned my 2006 Honda Civic for since 2014. On Aug 12th I was driving home from vacation in the U.P. of Michigan when (surprise!) the airbag decided it was time to deploy at 65 mph. I was not in an accident, the road was smooth, no bumps but there was an airbag light that came on before it happened. Picked up the car from the Honda dealer this week - they did an evaluation (for $90) and I got a copy of the notes and codes. This module clearly malfunctioned but if there's someone on this forum that knows more about this than me, here are the codes:
I did file a report with the NHSTB. Any help with these codes is appreciated. Cheers.

- F1-11 - Driver Air Bag Module And Seat Belt Tensioner Deployed
- 41-11 - No Signal From Driver Front Impact Sensor
- 54-10 - Internal Failure Of SRS Unit
- E2-11 - Passenger Air Bag Module Deployed
- B1178 - F-CAN Communication Line Error
- B1187 - Gauge Control Module Lost Communication with SRS Unit
I did file a report with the NHSTB. Any help with these codes is appreciated. Cheers.
Re: Accidental Airbag Deployment
Yes - the only one I received was for the Takada passenger side airbag recall. That service was done a couple years ago. There are no other outstanding recalls on my vehicle.

Re: Accidental Airbag Deployment
the codes seem to corroborate this as well, so good case i would say
loosing sight at 65MPH is surely dangerous and the irony is it was caused by a safety equipment...
