2013 FK2 R18 engine ecu swap
2013 FK2 R18 engine ecu swap
hi all.
I have a 2013 FK2 Euro hatch R18 manual and I would like to swap out the ecu to a US 4 door manual SI. I wish to do this as the FK2 is a one of and being so I am not able to marry anything to it. So updating or modifying any part of my civic is an issue etc, thus I can see why the US SI R18 model should be any different but would like help to see if others have tried this mod or am I just crazy for thinking this?
Otherwise it is a stand alone 3rd party ecu i will need and I'm keen on this as I will have rewire the whole car etc.
cheers

OP...
First talk to Hondata and see if they know anything about your car...
Not just look into their website, email them or call them

I have tried to talk to Hondata and they either reply by saying 'sorry can not help' or they don't reply at all.
This is why i have turn to forum site for help. No one out either know, does know and want tell or have not attempted anything like this before.
So no having much luck.
At the end of the day, I trying to find and ECU that is more programable than these dumb Euro ECU models for a HONDA CIVIC FK 1.8L R18Z4 SOHC 16v MPFI 4cyl 104kW 6sp Man 5dr Hatchback FWD [01/12 - 12/16]
Current ECU Code - 37805-R3A-Q170
What i am finding is information on this topic is harder to find than rocky horse teeth!

re: 2013 FK2 R18 engine ecu swap
so AU cars are Euro models. Standards there are more strict. Have you tried European ECU aftermarket companies?
It's really a gamble to try to find out if a US ECU will work or not in your car. (might be why Hondata will not want to look at it, not sure if the market is enough for them to justify the work needed - or maybe they already tried and did not work)

Yer, it seems to be the wall I'm hitting every time mate.
Have tried everyone i can get my hands on in euro but it's the same.no one wants to talk about the topic. It just that weird uncle that only turns up every second christmas dinner no one wants to talk to! well that's the euro hatch!
I'm trying to say away from having to use Haltech or Link or similar. thus why I am trying this path first as this is only my daily and a 3rd party ECU is a lot of mucking around and money etc.
