Help! Car Won't Start!
Help! Car Won't Start!
Hello
I am new to the forum, I would appreciate some advice on my car please.
I have had AA look at my car when it was recovered but they couldn't start it. Said it was battery and possibly fuel pump. Had a local mechanic in the area said it could be a maf sensor.
I replaced the battery today and still won't start. When it happened, I was driving and my car all of a sudden lost power and electrics stopped and haven't managed to get it sorted.
2012(62) 2.2 Diesel.
Is this a common problem with civics? 1st issue I've had since owning the car.
Thanks in advance!
Mike

Re: Help! Car Won't Start!
Most of us are in the US/Canada. We didn't get the diesel engine here so we might not be much help.
The basics still apply though. When you try to start is the engine cranking or does nothing happen?
-If it cranks but won't start check fuel and compression.
-If nothing happens check fuses, battery connections, ground connections to the body, starter, etc.

Thanks for your feedback. I didn't realise this was the US/CA site at the time of posting. I have now posted on the UK/EU site.
The engine cranks now that I have a new battery installed but it didn't before until jump starting it. I now have another mobile mechanic having a look at it on Monday now so hopefully find out what is wrong with it. Just hope I don't get ankther mechanic that says try this and that and just wasting money on it. Might be a good excuse to upgrade to a type r haha.

Re: Help! Car Won't Start!
It's not that this is a US/CAN site, it's more that we didn't have that many users outside US/CAN. Thus, our knowledge of Diesel engines is lacking
Diesel don't use spark plugs, so battery would not make it stop running. Maaybe the fuel pump, not sure if alternator would power the pump or not (older diesel would have mechanical pump?)
So, what is suspected would be what is electrically run, like the fuel pump, ECU having their power cut
