Water gurgling sound when.......

Hey guys I have noticed this alot in 02 LX since it has been cold. I have a five speed with about 8k on the motor. When I start my Civic in the mornings and rev the engine a little to ease out the garage I can hear a sound like water gurgling. It is only when I rev the engine very slightly, like to 1500 RPM's or so. It sounds like watery trans fluid being mixed, so-to-speak. I never really noticed it unitl it started getting cold. I can here really loud in the mornings. It sounds like it comes from behind the center A/C vents. I noticed this in my friends Civic also. It just bugs me. Do you guys have any input on this???? Look forward to your replies.

Wow, I thought that noise was in my head. I get it too. I've been getting it since I bought the car. When I accelerate slowly I can hear it gurgle. I hope we find out what it is. It's probably been discussed, but I have no idea how to search for a topic such as this.

Maybe just coolant flowing though the heater core?

all wrong... when liquids get colder they take up less space, since the liquid is being cooler than standard temperatures... it is occupying less space... so the gurgling is because there is some air in parts of the cooling system... and when the car is warmed up the noise is gone... because the reverse is also true, liquids occupy more space when it is heated above standard temps...

enuff science for ya?

While I was at Honda a few times getting serviced, I tried to identify that noise to them. However it would not sound when I needed it to sound the most
They finally heard it in my last checkup, and they said it was ball bearings that needed to be lubed.

I didn't they knew what they were talking about. Sound's still there, but like you guys figured, only during warmup and low gear (accelerating from stop).

You have bubbles in your cooling system. Here's how to fix it. Start the car with the hood up and radiator cap off, you can also take off the resivoir cap if you wish. Let the car run for about 30 minutes with the heater on full blast, as hot as it can go, this will suck more coolant into the heater core and allow the air bubbles to escape. Keep refilling the radiator if the level drops any, this is just coolant taking the place of the air. After about 30 minutes it should be done and no more gurgling. (I ran into this problem after I did a coolant flush and forgot to have the heater on when refilling the radiator)

Not a big problem. Happens to most all cars. It's only when you have the thermostat turned to the warm (red) position. Even if the fan is off it'll make the noise. If you turn it to the cool (blue) position then it will go away. Doesn't make it any less annoying though..

yeah. i first heard the sound a few mo ago. i didnt know that it happened on most cars though. i had a 99 accord lx before this and it didnt make any sound like that. come to think of it, that car made a lot less sounds (clicks, rattles) than this car does... i dunno... kinda makes me wish i had gotten a used accord 5spd instead.
