New car, and ever since drove it home , it vibrates between 70-75 ... my friend says this is normal (he too has a 02 civic) im thinking its not normal for a new car.. whos righ?
I had the same problem when I got my car. The problem more than likely is the tires need to be rebalanced or you may need to check the alignment.. Just a couple of ideas.. I fortunatly bought new rims and tires about 4 days after I bought the car so I didnt take it in about the vibration because the new rims and tires took care of the vibrations..
rebalance the wheels!
It's not normal to drive with a vibrating steering.

I had the same problem about 4 months after I got the car...took it in for its yearly inspection and told em it was vibrating...the guy rebalanced all the tires & reset all tire pressures...make sure that all tire pressures are equal, and that all the lug nuts are torqued evenly...I read in the manual too that they suggest getting the tires rebalanced every time you remove a wheel...but I can't see how that is practical at all!

Yeah take it back to honda and see what they can do but yeah thats not normal at all. I get my new rims in early next week hope my car doesn't vibrate.

I got the same problem. I'm running entirely stock and I only got 3600 miles... Do the wheels come unbalanced from the factory???
I have a 2001 Civic Coupe and I've had my 17's on for the whole year. When I replaced em with the stocks for winter, my steering wheel started to shake badly when I hit 45mph and up. I took it to get balaned but only had the front ones done. Its better now at taht speed but when I hit 60 and up and the highways it begins to do it again. I guess I also need to back ones rebalanced...By the way, when you guys put on your stock tires did anything plastic break off??? I had some black plastic break off and can't figure out what it is.
could be your alignment or mabybe a bent wheel. i had a bad vidration when i bent my wheel. all i did was put it in the rear and it was all good.
the black plastic thing might be the hub rings from your aftermarket wheels.. they probably were stuck on the hub when you tried putting on your stock wheels.
putting those wheels to the back might have caused the steering wheel vibration to stop but it is still causing uneven tire wear

Damn that's probably exactly what it is....hey VNlilMAN you think that the rings would cause vibrations if some of them were half broken on stock tires. I figure that might cause the tires to sit uneven? Grr I'm gonna have to get some more now since I messed those up...
Sure tires can come from factory with poor balance job. At any rate you should rotate and balance tires about every 5000 miles, for longest tire life and comfy driving. It's also not hard to lose a wheel weight and have a tire go out of balance. Also when you change wheels, it's a good idea to check the torque after driving 50 miles or so.
you dont need hub rings for stock wheels.. only aftermarket wheels. stock wheels were designed for the car so that they would not need the hub rings.. its probably cause the balance is off. like bartkat said, the wheel weight might have fallen off or gotten moved

I just checked and there is a black plastic washer under the shoulder of each lug nut. That is what holds the OEM wheel covers on. So if you aren't using OEM wheel covers you don't need those. Maybe that's the piece of black plastic that fell off.
