Rear Defroster NOT working
Rear Defroster NOT working
Has anyone ever had their rear defroster not working? I dont think mine ever worked, I got 19,000 miles, but this will be my first winter with the car. The button on the dashboard lights up like everything is fine, but there is no action on the back window. The problem is not intermittant defrosting, there is none at all. I took an ohm meter to the connections and found no voltage at all. Does someone have a suggestion, or is there a wiring diagram available somewhere?

Can you tell me which pillar cover to remove, driver or passenger, and how can i get them off? I just looked at the pillars, but the answer isnt jumping out to me. And what should i measure? Thank you.
I agree, this is a warranty issue, but the closest dealer to me has appointments into 1st week of November, and it is getting irritating to me taking my car in for inspection, then another appointment weeks later when parts come in. This all takes my time, just as does fixing things myself.
Take for example my passenger side window regulator, it's electric. Every once in a while when rolling the window up I got a 'BANG' as the window started going up. So, i made the appointment, they looked at it, then made another appointment for me to come in later to have it replaced. That was a warranty issue for sure because i could definitely not fix that. But, and this is a big but, while replacing this regulator the dealer bunged and scratched up the door pull with a screw driver while pulling it off. That is not all, now the speaker rattles in that door. So now it will cost me another appointment and this all takes time. So i weigh all my options with each issue. The problem with the defroster seems like it might be a connection problem, and that might be something I can fix without the risk of getting anymore trim scratched up at the dealer. But the more i read about the defroster vs the radio on this NG the more i am thinking that i dont need the static.

If you look at each pillar, there are sections on it that can be popped off with a flat-head screwdriver. I believe the defroster plug is on the passenger side...but I could be wrong. Pop both sides off (one side is longer than the other). Make sure the plugs on both sides are connected. If they are, then you're better off taking it to Honda because electrical troubleshooting is a PITA.
Thanks for the details pestlnc! I will look at those pillars tomorrow, and i agree with you that if this isn't the problem then i will leave this one for the dealer! PITA.
