Any Advice on Steering Shake with new wheels??

please read through this before you respond....
Car= 2001 Lx Coupe
Wheels= ADR Demonya 18's
Tire= Yokohoma Parada Spec 2 215/40/18
Purchased Online from www.Whalentrie.com with "free" Mounting and balance

ok now when i get to around 50 or 60 the front steering gets really shaky and really loose. and when i break hard it tends to pull to the right. now i put the rims on myself. and had the problem. then i took it in for an alignment. still have the problem. then took it in and had all 4 tires rebalanced. still have the problem

Yes i used the hubcentric rings that it came with
yes i used tuner style lug nuts
the only thing that is in the other threads that i'm not 100% on is the 80 pounds of torque on the lugs

My mechanic said he could try to take the wheel off the rim and balance the rim first then put the tire on and rebalance it again or somethin. not sure what i'm gonna do yet. does anyone have another solution they came up with to fix this problem??? i've taken them on and off and made sure they line up perfect and i know my mechanic and i know he did his part right. so what else could it be?

If your car is pulling to the right when you brake, you may have an issue with your brakes....also, if it starts getting shakey at 50-60 mph you may have a problem with your brakes since you have already had the tires balanced and aligned...

Have somebody check out your rotors in the front...

This might sound elementary but you may want to make sure all of the lug nuts are tight/torqued enough or that one or more of the threads arnt stripped. Jus check it again for good measure-ya never know. If not then take it in to a wheel shop have em check it out.

I have the EXACT same problem! However, I just have 2 hug rings in my 2 front wheels.......I am suspecting that might be the problem....my steering wheel start shaking at abt 70mph very noticeably....However, at 60mph...it just shake slighly.....I am not sure wat I can do beocoz most of the tires shop in my area does not do alloy wheels...

Pls let me know if u have any news!

Maybe the rims are bent?

I have my 17s torqued at 90 lb ft. I bought from a local wholesaler and installed myself as well. From everything I've been told (which I assume is accurate because I haven't had any problems), keep aftermarket rims torqued between 85-90 lb ft. If you've had your rebalanced and all...I'm still unsure because that seems to be the most common problem for shaking. I agree with 2001civiclx about checking the brakes though.

Despite many members said that the pulling problems might have sth to do with the rotor, it makes me really hard to believe that my rotor go bad at the same instant when I change my wheels.....

I had the same problem with the shaking at 70 mph. The rims that I have are barrowed, and they where on a Toyota Corola. to make a long story short, I had to buy new hug rimgs to make the rims fit snug. The problem is gone, but when I brake hard my whole steering wheel shakes , I think because I haven't had an allignment since I installed the coilovers.

i had that problem with my wheels, Just drive it around for awhile mine only shakes a liittle bit after about 2,000 miles, when i first had them put on i was afraid to go over 50 it shook so bad! another thing u could do if u dont want to wait is go get your tires ride matched, discount tire has it, its a machine that basically balances your tires.
