Symptoms of a lugging engine?
Ok. I know that lugging an engine is not good. But how do i know if the latter is lugging? If i feel a vibration in the steering wheel, is the engine lugging? Another thing, when i'm going at 25 mph in 4th gear on flat pavement i don't feel any vibration on the steering wheel. I need some tips from you guys to be able to identify when my engine is lugging.
Thanks
Thanks

If the car isn't accelerating, and you are below 1250-1500 RPM and there is a deep low bwoooaaaaaaa, if you hear knocking, or if the car is vibrating harshly/bucking you are luggint the engine. If you are trying to save gas just downshift @ 1500 rpm and upshift at 2500 rpm. And remember sometimes on big hills your going to have to push this little motor into the 3-4 range because thats the only way you are going to get enough power (unless you are going 5)
conspiracy please define lugging first... 25 in 4th w/o trying to accel won't bog/lug the engine down, so you shouldnt feel anything. If you're trying to accelerate at 25mph in 4th you arent going anywhere quickly, and engine is bogged down...
I was playing around yesterday and i agree, on a flat 4th in 25 is fine. It starts to get muddy at about 20 mph (1400rpm i think).
I stand by my previous statement stay abouve 1500 rpm, if you step on the gas and the car goes nowhere....you know your in the zone....
