Engine lugging
Whenever i'm going at slow speed in 1st and 2nd gear and i suddenly release the gas pedal, my engine starts to lug as if it's moving the car back and forth. Is this normal?
I noticed the same thing when I was crawling home from work on the expressway doing like 10mph (it was sleating and the oklahoma drivers were freaken out) .
The cluth was fully engaged too. I guess our cars don't like to creep along @ certain speeds/rpms

Perfectly Normal.
This is caused because your engine is basically confused as to wehter it's moving or Idling. When your RPMS get down to about 1050RPMS.. the engine starts doing this. On your Throttle body there is a small valve which allows extra air into the manifold so that it can controll the cars idle without the throttle bodt plate being opened. All it is is that the throttle body is closed and the little valves opens and closes as your cars computer realises the cars in gear. Auto Tranny have they're own computer which is linked to the cars main Computer(ECU) which lets it know if it's in gear or not. Manuals don't have this ... It's a direct mechanical coupling to the drivetrain and supriseingly. there are no electronics involved(except speed sensors)...
Hope this helps

Just press the gas pedal slightly when that happen. Be sure to release the clutch slowly that way your engine can cope up with your speed it will lessen the Luggging. Like Mohawkboom say's Auto tranny has a computer that control the Idling speed. In manual its up to you to control your engine speed
My 98 S-10 did this, too. When I'm going 10 mph in a traffic jam for hours, I just use second and coast most of the time and not engage the cluth too much.. just enough to give me a little jolt to get going a lil' faster. I know this isn't good for your clutch, but eh'... not many traffic jams.. not enough room for that many cars around here.
