My Car Going Crazy!!!
today my engine turn off while i was stopping at a stop light..i dotn know what the problem yet..then later on the afternoon..when i start my car..i notice that my rpm stays on 1,000 already....thats strange..its suppose to be all the way on 0 or something right?? well, i hope you guys will be kind enough to help me or try to help me with my problems..thanks
I don't know about the engine turning off , but i do know that the car should idle at around 800- 1000 RPM. I put some techron in the car because I am getting bad gas milage with only 7000 miles on it and the RPM when up a little but it has returned to normal. Hope this helps sorry I can't help with the engine turning off I would suggest taking it to a dealer.

There are two problems:
1. Your gauges are screwed up.
2. Your engine stalling as well? go here...

When you start your engine, it's normal for it to be around 1000 at the beginning. After it's warmed up, it should drop down to around 600-800 and stay there (when you're idling). Why do you say it should be 0? "0" means your engine is completely shut off.
First...his car stalled while he was sitting at the light. Second, I think he meant even before he started the car the rpm gauge is already pointing at 1. I get that sometimes too...but it's my speedo...it sits at the 20 mark even my car is not moving.
First... I did not address the stalling issue because you already did that above. Second... his description of the 2nd problem was quite confusing... but yes, now that you've made it crystal clear, it is a gauge problem like you said.
Sorry if I sounded rude or anything...didn't mean to do that.
I don't even bother to ask my dealer to fix the gauge. I just got used to note where the speedo sits at when I'm stopped. If it sits at 20 that means whatever it indicates is 20 faster than my actual speed. It's just insulting when I had the car a little bit over a year and it developed problem like this.

You speedo problem sounds like a much more serious problem than the tach problem.
And I thought the Acura dealers were much more accomodating when it came to warranty issues? Why not just get them to fix it, especially for a critical part like the speedo?

Not really. Unlike Lexus or Infiniti, Acura service is no where near upscale. It's like what the other guy said...they'll fix one thing and mess up four other in the process. And besides...my car has more serious problem higher in priority. Like the engine stalling...still a mistery after 14 months of ownership.
But then the price I paid is no where near upscale either. So....

ok...i stoped at a stop light..holding the brake..(i have a auto) and then suddenly the engine just turn completly OFF..then i have to restart the car again...oh about the gauge thing..i look at my mom's 02 Camry..and when it starts up its like around 600-800 RPM..when i starts mine up right now..its about 1,400 RPM..WTF is that..my sh3tz is messt up..
Camry has a bigger low-revving engine and will idle differently from our smaller high-revving engines... even at startup.
Like I said before, your car needs to warm up a bit first before the rpm's will come down... don't worry about that. It should come down to 600-800 rpm's after it's warmed up. If it does stay at 1400, then you've got a problem.
