Should I replace thermostat?

Ok, so figured out why radiator fan doesn’t turn on at all. Bad coolant temperature sensor (plan on getting one tomorrow and installing it) I replaced the thermostat in October 2017 replaced gaskets and the whole ordeal, even broke the bolts for the housing because well that was my luck lol. Anyways just wanted to ask if it would be a good idea to change the thermostat again and put a new gasket on there as well when I replace the coolant temp sensor?

Re: Should I replace thermostat?

Does the thermostat still work? If so, don't bother changing it.

If you don't know if it works or not, heat some water on a stove with the thermostat in it and a thermometer. If it's fully open by like.. 185F (I think?), then it's working (at least in the open direction) correctly. Kill the heat, and you should eventually see the thermostat close. That part ensures it doesn't stick open (though, that would be safer than stuck closed)

All that said, it's less than 6 months old, so it's probably fine. Then again, you said you have overheating problems, so it wouldn't hurt to at least test it. I like to live by the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Really no use busting out the parts cannon, but that's just my opinion.

If you overheated all the way to a pegged temp needle then I say replace the thermostat, else leave it alone.
