Rep Power: 0 Should I replace the fuel filter at 60K?
Hello All,
I have a 2005 Civic EX SE with nearly 60K. I had order my parts for the for the oil/filter/cabin filter/air filter/wiper blades but they place I use does not carry the fuel filters. Their comment was "Typically Honda doesn't have a replacement interval for them on the newer cars, they call it a fuel "strainer" and only recommend replacing it if the fuel system becomes contaminated and it clogs up, if the fuel pressure drops below normal, or if it is damaged somehow."
However, during some checking of the 60K service list for the 2005 Civic, they all seem to say to replace the filter at 60K. I can find filters on line for around $25 but can't seem to find exactly where the filter is located as what I am being told is under the hood, rear fire wall, left side if looking under the hood. The pics I have seen and videos I watched, then looking at mine, I must be blind as I don't see it.
Does it need to be changed at 60k if all is running well? And if so, where exactly is the little rascal on my Civic?
Thanks all,
GAB

the fuel "filter" is in the gas tank under the rear seat. and yes it isnt an actual filter its a strainer. when i heard it wasnt a filter i pulled it out just to be sure and what do you know. the dirt and what-not from the tank gets blocked by the strainer and leaves it in the housing. so all i did was clean out the little bit of dirt in the housing and knocked out what little, if any dirt there was in the filter. mine still looks clean after 120,000 miles. so i wouldnt worry about it.

takes a few hours to change it. there was diy posted a while back. honda says 100k miles or if the fuel pressure drops below spec. if the car drives fine, there is no sense in changing or cleaning it until you have an issue.
