I need honda knowledge help!!

I have 2005 Honda Civic d17a1 non VTEC I first threw off a code saying the small purge valve car started running real rough. After that it was overheating. At that time it was also throwing off my p300 codes. I'm to the point with the car I just want to buy another engine and I am having a hard time finding that engine so I'm wondering what would be the easiest swap? . This is my first Honda so I'm not really sure what to do. Will somebody please help me.

ok Im sorry 1st time using this site.
P0497 P300 P301 P302 P303 P304
my cap also came of and smoked everywhere. so I think maybe head is blown.
im really wanting to just do the same motor
but im having a hard time finding them...

Do a head gasket job on the engine you already have, if that is what is actually wrong with it?

Any used engine of the same type is likely to also need a head gasket job sooner or later.

I'd expect a D17A1 should be pretty easy to get.

Most likely. Pull the spark plugs and insect to see if the anode side is wet or fouled. Do a Block Test on it for exhaust emissions in coolant. Block tester is free rental at parts store and easy to do..just need to buy $10 test fluid. Youtube search Block Test for engine.

Engine swap: Try to find a '01-'05 civic that has been in an accident but the engine still runs so you can inspect and test it. Other option is this site: http://car-part.com/ Also, try local junk yard or LKQ engines.
