04 Civic head gasket
04 Civic head gasket
I have done a search and feel what my 2004 Civic (90k miles) has happening might be more.
I've been noticing that when I loosen the radiator cap, air rushes into the reservoir. And that more fluid needs to go into the radiator. But then, I end up with a reservoir full of coolant. None leaks out anywhere that I can see, and the oil is clean. Even the exhaust pipe is clean.
Took it to the dealership (yeh, I know, lol!) and I was told it lost 8psi in about 8 minutes or so. And they tested the coolant and found the air going into the reservoir was exhaust.
So...they're saying it's more than "just the head gasket", that there is also an internal leak that causes the airflow from the radiator (when I loosen the cap) to go into the reservoir.

Your head gasket is blown. End of story. Fix it and go on.
Is there more damage? The only way for anyone to know if it's more than just a head gasket is to take it apart and inspect.
Has it been overheated? (that's when most people learn they have a big problem)
How bad has it been overheated?
Would you like to diagnose/confirm/prove this head gasket problem for yourself?
Just about all the info one needs is in the first post of this thread link:

Will you be doing the work yourself? We have threads on that DIY too.
