Replacing Studs with Bolts

Any issue with replacing studs with bolts in general? I'm reattaching the upper transmission mount, which is held on to the transmission with one bolt and two studs. Both studs came out with the nuts. I need to replace one. I can get a bolt today (in stock) or a stud and nut on Wednesday...

Both studs came out with the nuts.
They may thread right back in the same way they came out. I'd run with this as my first try.

If you gotta use new bolts, make sure they won't be too long. You could crack the trans case if bolts are too long.

Re: Replacing Studs with Bolts

Thanks. One of the studs wasn't reusable (long story), the other would have been. Dealership had the nuts but said there was only one replacement stud in Canada (which they could get in a few days, and if I needed two it would be October).

What I ended up doing was overkill, but worked. I was at the junkyard for something else and pulled the studs off a Civic automatic, which are much longer on the top, same on the bottom. The nuts were frozen on, so I just cut them off under the nut, and they were about the right overall length, so I threaded them in and have "brand new" studs. Total time about 20 minutes and cost about $1.50.
