a/t transmission service 2005 dx sedan

I am curious i looked at the thread above in sticky.

I changed my fluid once,.. my transmission is good, no issues..

car has 275k .. I am in the process replacing some valves so i want add a 50 shoot nitrus wet.. for some fun.. down the road...

that fluid changge helped my tranny back at 180k.. felt like new.. but i read up hear on top if you drop the pan, you can clean the screen inside..

that being the culprit of lossing second gear due to orficee blockage by warn fibers of clutches.. anyone has experience on this..

i wonder if my blockage is huge, and I dont want to have issues down the road.. it does have 275k..

how bad does it get clogged? any pics

Not a good idea. 275k miles and with an automatic transmission you're just asking it to take a dump on you if you use nitrous.

Sounds like your talking about the shift solenoid screen. The shift solenoid is located on the top of the transmission (not an internal part). Clean the shift solenoid. It's been 95K miles since you did the last ATF drain and fill so, do a a 3x3 (google it) drain and fill. If, those two things solve the shifting issue then consider adding an external 3/8" Magnefine ATF filter.

Re: a/t transmission service 2005 dx sedan

why would it take a dump, when i have 200 compression.. its only 50 shot wet nitrus..

so if the car is new its ok to run nitrus?

for the solenoid, i read that thread there is a screen inside the pan if am not mistaken.
second i dont have a shifting issue, i did notice is little sluggis than before but no issues.. i would like to do as a preventitive maintenance since i read it gets clogged from fiber debree on the above thread.

its the tranny that would take a dump, all that mileage = worn clutch packs, it would probably slip like a bastard after the nitrous.

Did anyone mention the trans has no pan to drop, you'd have to split the case in order to reach the internal filter.....

sorry i missed that thing. so i need to split the tranny apart to reach the internal filter? or is there a way to clean the solenoid like you said?

I do realize you are probably right about the nitrus, but hell , it might hold up, these are tough gears in them holding up to 400 hp i read somewhere.. there weak point is 2nd gear due to that passage filter that is..

get my point... but **** i wont splited all apart till i blow it.. not to jinks it knock on wood.

Re: a/t transmission service 2005 dx sedan

Doesn't seem like it would be worth tearing your A/T apart if it's still shifting well. I guess the other way to look at it is since it has 275k and has little monetary value then may as well nitrous the **** out of it.. because, not much to lose..LOL.

if thats the case i might wait till i it fails.

or i might do tranny filter and cooler.. but i driven it 275k i dont know how much diffrence doing it now will do.

I have few more questions.. will ex transmission has shorter gears any better for replacement? maybe i can get spare to have as a precaution.. once i hit nitrus who knows how long it will last the oem DX tranny.

On 6th gens '96-'00 there's several threads on automatic to manual transmission conversion. I am not sure if the 7th gens conversions are similar or even possible but, if they are you'll have more fun with a manual and if you're going to nitrous boost it a manual transmission will hold up better, as well as being cheaper to repair/maintain

the gearing is probably different, other than that its probably the same, but it's auto so i dont know if there would be any computer issues. I'm doing a similar swap with my car, but mine is a manual trans

Sorry, I try to stick to stock stuff only.

If I wanted a manual trans car, I'd sell the car I don't want and buy the one I do want.

no its pretty simple guys.. just thinking ahead.. when things fail, i will buy better options.. I wonder how hard is to do manual transmission swap.. i would need calbles pedals, that would be involved.. better off sticking another automatic

but then there is EX shorter gears but probably diffrent wiring and ecu am assuming.. still **** load of mods.. maybe i will stick to stock dx trannies.. we will see this is hypothetical future options. mine hasnt failed dont want to jinks it now.

Braj... your car has 275k miles on the engine so, is it really worth doing anything to it besides driving it the way it is until it takes a **** on you? If you want something with more ***** then sell it for the $1000 it might be worth and combine it with whatever you saved up or finance and get yourself a late 90's or early 2000's Mazda Miata that's ready to do the job.

miata ? freaking Smart is bigger ).. even older then my 2005 Honda.

yes it is, my daily driver, plus why would it be worth putting a nitrus on brand new car that i paid **** load of money for to be stock and have warranty on it.. i see people modify them only to loose warranty..

Unless you got **** load of cash, buying an Evo then adding more into it i guess .. but if you are buying it only to impress people, and have struggles , on a car that depreciates more than 50% in two years is dumb.

I look at doing small things to give me better performance, not going crazy.. as things break I put performance parts for replacement.

I realize how much the car is worth. its my test vehicle.. i sold my back up vehicle but i will have one soon.

depends how u think.... i run the car till i dies.. then i fixed..
plus i do all my own work, so labor is 0.

Finnaly i got it running today after i got bent valves freaking 12 of them.

Not sure what to make of all that. Anyway, Is you goal in boosting with nitrous to go straight line fast? Because, that's all you're going to get out of your '05 Civic sedan unless, you drop some money into the suspension.

According to this article there is hope for your desire to boost: http://www.superstreetonline.com/how...ide-faq-myths/

This is an interesting article that mentions both 90's Civics and Miatas: http://www.superstreetonline.com/fea...ars-under-10k/

I mentioned older Miata's because they are inexpensive, rear wheel drive, near 50/50 weight displacement, stock: handle much better than Civics.
