05 ex stalled while idleing
Last night was very cold, so I turned the car on and let it idle for about 15 minutes, it made made a nearly perceivable noise, like grinding, and it shut down. No lights, no warnings and the temp was about 1/3 of the gauge. I started it up again and about 3 minutes later it did the same. After that the engine wouldn't turn. Only clicking sounds from the ignition. This morning the engine turned, but would not start twice. Then the battery clicking sound.
Any ideas on what it might be, or cost? Any recommended mechanic in Peekskill, NY?
I don't know if it has anything related, but the car did go over a side walk, hitting the bottom part pretty hard, about 2 weeks ago.
I hope I am posting in the correct place. I'm new on this forum.
Thanks

Including checking oil, check coolant level and ATF fluid level if it's an automatic. If, all those are at proper levels then pull top timing cover off and inspect timing belt.. may be loose
Failing alternator may be a possibilty as well.

Re: 05 ex stalled while idleing
I was able to start it with jump wires and let it run for about 20 minutes. Then I restarted it and it made grinding noises. So I turned it off and it made a wierd zoom vacuum sound. If it restarts should I drive it? Any idea what it might be?
If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Make sure alternator belt is still present, tight, and undamaged
Have battery tested and alternator tested.
