Car wouldn't start

I have a 2002 honda civic that wont start. Car will crank, with spark. fuel pump is working, replaced spark plugs, cam sensor, crank sensor.
Mechanic suspect the ECU computer module 37820-PLM-L54 UM.
I got a 37820-PLM-L55 US, which i was told would work, but did not start the car.
Do i need the same ECU? What next.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

2002 honda civic
wont start.
Car will crank
There's an awful lot of questions to go here.

What all was happening before the car died and wouldn't start?
Symptoms? Acting funny? Smoke? Fire?
Locusts?

You said it has spark......
Got compression?
Got fuel injection?
Got CEL?
Got codes?
Got PCM data?
Got timing?

replaced spark plugs, cam sensor, crank sensor.
Mechanic suspect the ECU

but did not start the car.
Of course not.
Got a green key symbol flashing angrily at you when it didn't start?

#1, a no start problem isn't normally caused by the PCM, (that's pretty rare except for one particular situation that seems pretty common, and there are several symptoms it can give before it does this)
#2, the original problem probably hasn't been figured out and resolved (WHY would it roast a PCM, huh?)
#3, any new PCM cannot run the engine until the immobilizer functions have been programmed

37820-PLM-L55 fits 2003 DX and LX auto trans
37820-PLM-L54 fits 2002 DX,LX w/ A/T
Yeah it would probably work, assuming the problem was the PCM,--- but not until it is programmed properly.
