Aftermarket OEM OE bumpers

Has anyone had success using aftermarket OE/OEM replacement bumpers?

I am doing the 04/05 conversion front and back and wanted to pick up used OEM bumpers but they are few and far between unless they have cracks at the mounting points.

If anyone has experience with the quality, fitment, etc please let me know, i have spent some time over the past two weeks coming up with little to no information on them.

Re: Aftermarket OEM OE bumpers

I found out that the fenders are .25mm and stock are .4X which is almost twice the thickness, so i will be obtaining OEM fenders instead of replacements.

for example, these are the parts i am talking about.

What was your experience getting the old cover off? Since I'm planning an HID retrofit I'll have to get it off as well. Was it easy to remove without cracking the mounting tabs?

Removing and replacing is easy. I can pull the front off and put it back on in 5 min or so now after doing it several times.
-Remove black pop-pins on the top and underside of the bumper.
-Remove 1 screw from each upper corner of the bumper in each wheel well.
-Pull each side out firmly without just ripping it out and move towards the center.

As far as OEM vs aftermarket, I bought an oem replacement (aftermarket) and it was missing the tabs underneath the headlights. It still fit but those tabs make OEM more firm. Also, there was a little bit bigger gap due to nothing holding the bumper right up to the headlights. I'm guessing if you went OEM for fenders due to thickness that the lack of tabs under the headlight would end up bothering you. However, it's possible not all aftermarket are missing the tabs but I would contact the seller to find out before you buy.

As long as you get ALL the bolts, it's hella easy. There should be something like four fasteners up top, six under (four fasteners and two screws), and one bolt/screw in each wheel well. Putting it back on is pretty straightforward too, but you may have to smack the bumper cover around a bit on the sides!
