help needed, slid to curb, what did i break this time?

This morning when i was pulling to my office's complex, i hit a black ice spot and i couldn't turn in. I end up sliding sideways until the driver side wheel hit the curb. i was only going 5-10mph but there was a POP noise.
i thought the tire burst, but it didn't.
so far here's what i know:
1. I lifted the car and i can tell the LCA is bent a tad, so i'll have to replace that for sure.
2. tire looks ok, no bulge, just scuff.
3. rims got severe curb rash, but looks like it still holds air.
4. brake works but ABS is making weird noise. (with ice everywhere, ABS is active quite often, it was ok before this curbing, just regular noise. now it makes noise like it's metal to metal rubbing.
5. steering wheel vibrates going 40-50mph when i'm not gripping it.

can you guys help me figure out what else could be wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Get it up in the air again (SAFETY FIRST)
Run the engine, put it in gear, let the wheels spin.
See what isn't spinning true. Bent rim? Bent hub? Broken belts in the tire tread?

ABS noise -- You sure it isn't just metallic rubbing/scraping noise, like the metal backing plate is bent and rubbing the brake rotor?

If it bent a control arm, I'd expect more damage, just not easily seen. Knuckle, wheel bearing, hub, strut?

Thanks for the idea. I stopped by my tire shop today and alas the wheel is bent a bit, so that explain the vibration on the steering wheel. It might not be the only cause.
So I lift the car again and swapped the wheel. Put on drive, let it roll and it spins true, didn't hear any grinding noise (if dust shield rubs the rotor or the bearing is shot).

What else should I check?

Check your ball joint for any excessive play.

Seems that the hub is not bent then. That's good.

I guess stick a new LCA and wheel on (put matching pair of tires on the front) and get it aligned, see if that puts the wheel back into the correct place or if you need more parts.

When a wheel takes a large impact that results in damage, sometimes the wheel bearing suffers. It may take some miles before it shows itself though, so keep an ear out over the next few hundred miles.

IDK about what you are calling with the ABS noise, I can't hear it. I was just guessing it may have been the backing plate. Maybe it's activating because the tire is getting dragged sideways (for all I know)

that's exactly what i was going to say - icy surface and tires pointed to wrong direction - slide - ABS happily obliges.

Thanks for chiming in!
is there a specific way to check ball joint? when the car was lifted, i grabbed the wheel on 12 and 6 and try to wiggle it. it was solid, but i'm not sure if that's a good test for ball joint or not.

by alignment you basically mean make sure all the numbers are within spec right? i know right now i got barely positive camber (or 0) on the impacted side, i can eye ball it.

what do i need to look out for regarding wheel bearing? just noise?

Also, what i meant by ABS noise was a noise that happen when the ABS kicks in (other than the normal pulsating noise). i knew i should've recorded it. but i was too concerned about wheel falling off lol.

Now check caster.

Actually,,,, look for the wheel to have been knocked rearward
Compare side to side, how far back the tire has been pushed back in the wheelwell.
Stuff fingertips in between tire and fender lip at 3 and 9 oclock, compare both sides

If one has been pushed back farther than the other, that's an indication that caster will be way off if you checked the alignment for real.

what do i need to look out for regarding wheel bearing? just noise?
Yeah, that's about all you can do. Just be aware that it can happen so you aren't surprised if it does.

ABS pump sits right above the drivers front wheel. Any fender damage? Any brake lines tweaked against the body panels or anything?

Check toe: Do both front wheels point dead straight ahead when the steering wheel is straight? (If you bent a lower arm, that one probably won't be.)

like ezone mentioned, stick a new arm in there, align and drive/recheck car - some issues will (hopefully) be gone, some new ones (might) appear.

other than that, we cannot see your car I see only a screen full of words :P

There's no fender damage, the curb was only 6" tall. i did double check the brake hoses and they look ok.

the control arm probably only 2mm off at the tip of it, not much but enough to be noticeable when you look at the passenger side.

It's time to go shopping, should i just buy the ball joint also? the car is almost a decade old, how long does a ball joint last ?

what does the crystal ball say?

Not if it is undamaged and still serviceable.

Replacing a ball joint properly is a whole 'nuther can o' worms. They even have a service bulletin all about it.

They are GOOD, right up until the time that they become BAD.

Some outlast the cars they are on. Some don't.
Free play, bent, torn boot?
Clue for "bent" inspection: Rotate the stud.

what does the crystal ball say?
How about a Magic 8 Ball

The crystal ball can't even tell what your car is. I guessed some sort of 7th gen Civic, but you didn't put that handy information in the first post.

I decided to go ahead and buy it too, since nobody local has it and it's not that expensive. i've seen the 2 DIY in the forum to replace the ball joint, i'm not afraid of project, it's my hobby after all.

the car is 2004 honda civic 4dr ex. the spare tire on it now but i'm not driving it anymore until i get the wheel fixed and the suspension fixed.

Hopefully the parts come in this saturday. Thanks for all the help.

BEFORE you think you want to replace the ball joint, read about what happened when the job went sour...

I wouldn't replace one just for the hell of it.

Thanks for the interesting reading. I'll be sure to double check the ball joint before replacing it.

Re: help needed, slid to curb, what did i break this time?

Got it done yesterday. Took a lot longer since on the process of separating ball joint and lca, I found the ball joint boot cracked and grease out. Good thing I had a new one. I had to cut the old lca because I just couldn't get the ball joint out. Everything else was easy after I ran to autozone to borrow ball joint press. I noticed that the aftermarket ball joint has c clip that hopefully keep the ball joint in place.
there's also grease port so I guess I can add some later.
