alternator mounting bracket
alternator mounting bracket
First off I apologize if this topic is on the forum somewhere else but I searched and diddent find anything related. So if I am a D.A. and it is here somewhere please direct me to it. thx
ok I have an 02 civic ex and my alternator needed replacing. ok no biggie fairly easy job spray everything down with liquid wren hand get started. as I was taking off the main mounting bolt( not the tensioner) to the alternator it snapped flush with the mounting bracket. so my desperate question is this.is that "bracket" a bracket or is it cast into the block? it looks as there is bolts holding it in place but I am not shure. I need to find a way to either get that bolt out or drill it out and use it as a threw hole but there is hardly enuf room to get a drill in there as it is.
any help is greatly appreciated thank you so much.

Re: alternator mounting bracket
The bolt you reach from above (the real long one), is threaded into a separate bracket attached to the block with 5 bolts. (Timing covers should come off to get the bracket off.)

You may be able to get the bracket off and drill out the broken bolt, then install a heli-coil? (That bracket is way cheaper than my time would be valued at to drill it.)
