Xmission fluid leak around dip-stick
My 2002 Honda Civic has an automatic transmission. The transmission dip-stick seems to be loose in the access tube, and transmission fluid will occasionally leak past the dip-stick. If I re-seat it the leak will stop for a couple of cays but sooner or later it will start again. This is not a gushing leak, only a few drops on the garage floor. There is no resistance to either inserting or removal of this dip-stick.
Is the transmission dip-stick supposed to have some resistance to removal similar to the engine dip-stick?
My local Honda repair shop diagnosed the problem but did not suggest a new dip stick. Maybe there was no profit in a simple dip-stick, but they usually are not hesitant to suggest a part replacement.

It's supposed to fit tighter than that.
Just get a new dipstick.. It's like $12 at a dealer.
The design has been improved, and the handle loop is the clue

Gearbox was one of the 1st to bring that improved part to light and I thank you Steve where ever you may be.

The pict helped a lot. The new dipstick has a slightly larger seal which will no doubt stop the occasional dripping. Thanks for the reply!
