Battery light, tachometer

Today I put on my KHS exhaust. On my way home my battery light came on. I pulled over, checked to see if my alternator was loose (tension bolt has snapped in half twice) it was fine. I checked the belt, it was nice and tight. I checked my battery cables. They're good. So I got back in and started to drive home. About 5 minutes from my house, my car jumps forward and then my dashboard lights stop working. My check engine light flashes and then goes away. My tachometer stopped working and I couldn't go above 30mph. I tested the battery and it's at 13.11 turned off and 14.2 on. The alternator still charges the battery but I can't drive because it almost stalls on me.

Re: Battery light, tachometer

Check fuses under hood, and in car.. could be something that simple..
are all wires tight on the alternator?

so the car wouldnt go over 30? what did it do when you got to that speed?
this could be a seperate issue from the battery light... (clogged airflow, clogged exhaust, clogged fuel flow..etc..)

or

could be a number of electrical issues..
speedo and tach have sensors on the engine that could have gone bad..bad info to the PCM will cause running issues..

any more info on the problem? still happening, what have you done to the car ETC..ETC..

Re: Battery light, tachometer

When it gets to 30mph it just revs high. No power. I just put an aftermarket exhaust on. I have 2 12" subs and LEDS hooked up to the subs. Aftermarket head unit. And I haven't tried to drive it cause I don't want to get stuck somewhere. But everytime I turned the car on it kept happening. I heckled the fuses and they're all good

Re: Battery light, tachometer

Did you check it after this happened?

Check the ALT fuse under the dash, not the one under the hood.
And if you didn't already, get the CEL reread.
