2002 Civic LX, 220k miles. need help.

I've got a 2002 stock civic here with 220k miles.

In the last few days it started acting up.
Wouldn't idle properly and having problems starting
The engine is leaking oil everywhere. I have to add about 1 quart per month.

Anyways here comes the interesting stuff.
I have a CarMD OBD Scanner tool.

I plugged it up and here is what we're getting on the scanner.

P0304
P0300 (.all three related to misfire.)
P0301

Also im getting civic specific codes

P1298 -Electric Load sensor High input?
P1259 -VTEC system malfunction ?

The I/M monitor all are good. But i'm failing on the "check engine light"
CarMD says my diagnosis is to change spark plugs and set valve clearances. (is this a load of crap?)

Main symptoms. Car isn't wanting to idle and it seems to be running poorly.
Leaking oil all over the engine.

I'm going to have the car towed tomorrow.
What are the main things I should have checked?
I don't want to get scammed at the shop.

Thanks guys!

If there's oil everywhere, the p1259 is telling you that your oil level is pretty damn low.

P1298 may come or go. Replace the eld unit in the fuse box and call it a day.

Misfires are causing your funky idle.

I'd start by trying to trace the oil leak you have. By "oil...everywhere," where specifically is there oil. That'll help with the Internet diagnosis

Also, pull your plugs, see what they look like. Tips should be a light tan-ish color if everything is copacetic

Ok my uncle came over and we reset the ECM computer chip by pulling the fuse number 6.

The start up was really rough (I think it was recalibrating idle)
and then it started idling good!

We checked with the code scanner and the 1298 is the only code showing

no miss fires and no Vtec problems

the oil is at proper levels.
(its leaking from valve cover we think)

My uncle is coming back over tonight to test the coils with a resistance meter.
What proper resistance should the coils read?

Also how much is the ELD unit?

Thanks for your help man. really appreciate it!
