i have an 03 ex i have to do head gasket on. i dont have time to get head machined so i was looking to replace head with a remanufactured head. any recommendations on a company that sells reman heads? also any recommendations on gasket kit companies? thanks for an info.

i would go get one at a scrap yard and take it to a machine shop and have them remanufacture it

If it didn't get overheated, the head will probably be flat and not need machined at all.

Take it apart. Measure it.
If it measures FLAT, then just put it back together with fresh gaskets.
Have a trusted, reputable machine shop measure it if you don't have a precision straightedge to do it yourself.

Max warpage spec is .002 in. (.05mm)
Head gasket is MLS type.
OEM gaskets or Fel-Pro.

Reuse the head bolts.
Clean out the EGR passages in the injector manifold while you have it apart.

That could be plenty hot enough. It doesn't take much to do damage, and you really can't go by the gauge on the dash. "Normal range" on the gauge covers a broad range of temps without ever moving the needle.
"A little hot" on the gauge can be plenty hot enough to do damage.


Measure the head and go from there.

Most machine shops here have same-day or next-day turnaround.

mine didnt need machining acording to the mechanic that did mine
said they have a straight edge they check it with before they send out.
I never let mine hit the red tho once it went over 3/4 on temp gauge i would stop let it cool top up the anti freeze and be good for another week.

If he is still driving it knowing it needs a head gasket then there's probably other thing wrong too he hasn't taken care of.
