D17a2 p0335
D17a2 p0335
Cars been running since Feb had head gasket timing belt waterpump plugs all replaced
Have drivin for over 10000kms and today just pop a P0335.
Cant rev much above 3000rpm without studdering and jerking.
Idles perfect and seems to run perfect under 3000RPM
Ive been reading some have fixed because connector is corroded.
Ive been trying to find a decent pic so I can find it.
I imagine I have to get at it from underneath the car
sure is tough to see from top
If I am standing on the driver side looking at the timming belt
Shroud what side is it on, the right?
I see some sort of sensor at the top but that prolly cam shaft sensor.
Any help is appreciated until then I'll keep a searchin
Is it safe to drive to dealer ship if i keep it at 2000rpm prolly since that is probably safemode all though I wouldnt think safe mode should jerk like that when u rev over 3k almost like its starved for fuel.

Well got er up on the ramps think I found it.I removed the connector lots of crap came out sprayed it with tuner cleaner and reseated connector agout 20 times
cleared code started er up
P0335 again
I see in the manual a procedure to pop off the connector and check for
voltages if all there then change sensor ug
its getting dark now so may have to take to stealership all wires look fine to me
maybe I'll get out my big *** flashlight n volt meter just to see if I have the correct voltages

If you have corroded wire terminals in that CKP connector, you are going to have problems. For long-term good contact, it is imperative that all contacts are shiny clean metal on both the wiring AND the sensor pins, and the fit is tight when the male terminal is slid into the female terminal.
You may need replacement parts and wiring repairs.
Has the water pump been dripping on that connector?
Re: D17a2 p0335
well got my big *** flashlight out and checkin volts and all ok
noticed were the sensor is connected to motor with a bolt the
plastic that hols sensor is all cracked seems tight tho
ezone no all looks dry

Re: D17a2 p0335
so its not as simple as undoing that bolt and replacing it from what
ive been reading thats a bunner
I assume all Da17A2's are the same no mater about year
To bad that wasnt replaced when they did my head gasket waterpump timing belt.
I woulda payed the extra 50 or 100 bux

I can't go by engine numbers, they are all but meaningless to me.
I'm going be the 7th gen heading.
And yes, the bolt is under the timing cover.... Not a quick task in the driveway at all.

Re: D17a2 p0335
If it runs poorly, I probably wouldn't do it. (but it depends on how it runs poorly, if that makes any sense.)
You can ruin the catalytic converter from misfires in a matter of minutes, if it is severe enough.
Re: D17a2 p0335
I'll ask the dealer in the morning before I go.
I think its ok I drove home with it like that .
If I dont rev above 3g everything is normal
not much fun tho no fear of getting a speeding ticket
might get better gas milage tho...lol

Re: D17a2 p0335
Hardest part of getting the sensor out is popping off the crank pulley bolt.. If you have the crank pulley holding tool, and you're proficient at the procedure, it still takes about 3-4 hours start to finish in a driveway..
Procedure is pretty much this:
-remove bumper and driver headlight (just for ease of access)
-unbolt PS pump and "swing" it out of the way
-remove alternator
-remove upper timing cover
-support engine with a jack (or similar) and remove driver side engine mount
-remove crank pulley (the bolt is torqued to 180 ft-lbs)
-remove lower timing cover
now you're free to take out the CKP sensor

Fixed
runnin normal again 600bux later tax in
I hate to say it but I've spent more on my last 2 hondas then any GM
I have ever owned to date my 03 silverado has 200000 on it with only brake
jobs and a battery
Don't flame just sayin
any way its running normal again but I think its time to trade er in.
The dealer had a normal Si and a HFP Si on the lot
gonna take them for a spin but first I'm gonna scoot
over and test drive a FR-S or BRZ so I have something to
compare.
Any thing else semi sporty worth driving under 30 grand
besides a v6 camaro, stang or challenger?
I have drove a new Genesis coupe wasnt bad just can't
bring myself to dish out 30g for a Hyndai
