04 Civic Instrument Cluster Swap - adjust mileage?
04 Civic Instrument Cluster Swap - adjust mileage?
So my instrument cluster went bad and I found a used one to replace it with. What I can't figure out is how to get the mileage of my current cluster programmed into the new cluster. I've called two dealers and they both seem clueless. One told me the mileage isn't stored in the cluster....that's not true right? Can dealers do this, or how can I get it done?
Thanks!

I've been told that dealers are the only ones who can do it- if they have the machine. Usually costs $100-$300. Call other dealers until you find one that can do it.

i work at a honda dealership, and there is no way at all to programm the current mileage into the new one, we have to place a sticker in the glove box with the mileage that was on the old cluster and when you get a new one it shows 0 miles so you just add them two together. But there is no way to program a new cluster with mileage. hope this helps!

^^^Sort of agree, but no.....and yes on the mileage sticker.
At the dealer level with the HDS scanner, we can't touch the 7th gen cluster mileage.
You would have to send the cluster to a speedo shop to get the mileage changed. Costs some $$.
This is the place mentioned in my info: Palo Alto Speedometer, Inc.
On an 8th gen, I believe we can TRANSFER actual mileage info from an old one to a brand new unit with zero miles. We cannot alter or modify it AFAIK.
