Iffy Starting

For about 2 weeks now, my car (2003 lx sedan) has been having a little trouble starting. It's happened when it was cold out, it's happened when it was warm out. It doesn't happen every time I start the car, but about 1 in every 4 times.

I turn the key, it will sputter and struggle to start for 3-10 seconds then start up and run without an issue.

From what I know it seems like it's something with the fuel system or ignition system.

Start by testing your alternator and battery voltages.

Re: Iffy Starting

Get rid of the Bosch Platinums, go back to NGK or Denso.
Go back to low octane fuel from a Top Tier Gas supplier.
(Reminded me of what they do with high octane gas sometimes, hard start cold. Alky content? Maybe E-85, hard to restart a hot engine.)
More details?

Randoms:
Worse after a fill up? Check for a Purge Solenoid stuck open.
Got codes?
Got idle relearn?
Got fuel pressure readings DURING the no start while cranking?
Does it hold residual fuel pressure?

God knows what plugs I have... but as far as I know it's nothing fancy.

I'm too poor to fill up with 92 octane, that stays in my motocross bike.

I don't think it's worse after a fill.

No.

What?

Maybe?

What?

I feel stupid...

Did you expect me to give you a shopping list of low quality crap parts to buy at ChinaZone and needlessly replace?

Low VTEC fluid can cause hard starting.

Re: Iffy Starting

Well played, good sir.

(I saw the reply with an image link in my email. I almost thought it was going to be a pic of the parts cannon.)

I'm surprised kalecoauto doesn't have synthetic VTEC fluid yet.
They have all the latest must-have shizzle there.
