Vibration on a "P"arking
Hello, I'm from Russia, and sorry for the mistake in the text.
I have a problem. When switching the selector to "P" (parking) - appears on the body and the vibration in the cabin. With that vibration, such as if the engine is works at three cylinders. When stand on the "D" (drive) with the brake pressed, the vibration is not as strong and uniform. In what may be the problem?
My car from Japan, hatchback, Engine is D17A, CVT.

Re: Vibration on a "P"arking
I'm in the USA
I'm not familiar with that particular version of the car.
A regular automatic transmission makes the drivetrain rock back and forth when you put it in a gear. Things move and change from P to D.
But
If you have a CVT transmission, there is almost no forward torque applied to the drivetrain until you apply the throttle pedal. Then the trans goes from neutral to engaged in forward gear.
My first thought is to say it sounds like a motor mount problem, except for the CVT goes to neutral at a stop.
But I would really want to see the problem with my own eyes first.
There would have to be significant engine vibration being transmitted into the cabin.
Maybe you just have rattles in the interior, but no real engine or mount problem?

My car with CVT transmission.
I'm sure it's not part of the interior. Just when I stop and stand at the traffic lights in the "D", then there is virtually no vibration and it is uniform. And when I'm the same way in the "P", the vibration is felt more strongly and uniformly.
If I let my hand to the body of the car outside, while the engine is idling in the "P", then the vibration will not be. But it is worth getting into the car, he immediately felt that shakes the body - seat, steering wheel

Re: Vibration on a "P"arking
Does it vibrate when the shifter is on R?
Might your vibration mainly happen when you engage P while stopped on a hill, or tilt?
Have you compared your car to another identical car?
I really have no good way of identifying the issue over the internet.
These engines only have 4 cylinders, and some vibration is normal by design. If yours is not normal, maybe you need someone near you that can actually look at and see the car.

No, on R is no vibration.
No, I stand on an equal surface at this time. At what this vibration can appear not at once, and in some seconds. But it not turning on of the cooling fan
Yes, and I know - this is not normaly.
I'll try to clean the throttle valve and the idle

Re: Vibration on a "P"arking
Not a misfire?
No check engine light?
Does the idle RPM change, and cause the vibration when it does?
Some vibrations get worse at certain engine RPMs. The engine idle speed should stay at a relatively steady RPM.
Cleaning the throttle body and doing an idle relearn might help.
Perform the work first, then do the idle relearn:
Warm up the engine.
Turn off everything electrical.
Transmission in Park.
Let it idle for 10 minutes, do not touch the throttle during this time.
I can only guess from here.
You may need someone that can actually SEE the car, to diagnose it.
