Messed up engine
Messed up engine
I have the D17A2 engine, and I followed the torque specifications which where 14, 36, and 49 lb/ft for the head bolts, and 14 lb/ft for the rocker arm, so when i started the car it was turning over but not starting. After disassembling it again, I noticed anti-freeze and oil mixed in the head, meaning it wasn't tight enough. How did this happen? Is the above not the correct torque?
Re: Messed up engine
That's the correct torque. Did you torque it in the right sequence? If you did, and it still does not seem too tight there is a good possibility that your head is warped so you may have to over torque it so that they mate properly. It's not an ideal solution, but it might work.
