Rep Power: 292 Where Do I Get Paint For The Engine?
Oh damn, I think I messed up. I went to wal mart cuz I was too lazy for the long drive to autozone. Then I went to the automotive section and looked for paint. I got this "Dupli-Color Auto Spray." That was like the only paint they had in the section besides like touch up. Ir says its ideal for Trim accessories. Well I sprayed it on and its drying right now. I looked on the back and it has like 50 warnings saying how flammable it is. Well I'm gonna let it dry all night, but I'm a little afraid. Will this paint melt and drip then set my car on fire? . It looks like it is working fine on my engine covers. I just dont want to be in a car that will explod. I need an answer really quick please!

Rep Power: 324 Go to Kragen and ask them. I have it it's something with enamal and can stand up to 500 degrees. Heheh, I didn't paint my engine but that's what I used to paint my drum brakes ans calipers. LoL. Werks perfectly fine. No problems at all, just cost me about 4.99 with out tax. California...

Rep Power: 292 What's Kragen? I'm about to win an auction on ebay for a painted caliper kit, so if you can save me money then go right ahead . Well how does painting the engine correspond with resale value. I have a lot of mods done to my car, but I kept all the stock parts, so I probably could restore it back to factory condition if I needed to sell the car one day. I don't think I will though cuz this car is my baby for life . Does painting the engine lower the resale value? It's probably irreverable right?

What part of the country are you from? I'm from the left coast and I think in other parts of the country Kragen is called Schucks Auto Supply or Checker Auto Parts. I was in North/South Carolina and Georgia and over there, Carl's Jr. is Hardy's. Weirdos .

Rep Power: 0 I'm pretty sure the fire hazard is not the paint, but the propellant in the spray can. Once the paint dries, I'm pretty sure it won't catch on fire. Even if it does catch on fire, I doubt there is enough paint on there for it to burn long enough to catch anything else on fire if your engine compartment is pretty clean. All that will happen with the paint if it isn't designed for use in hot areas, it will probably peel, fade and look bad after a while. You should be pretty safe though as far as fire from it goes.

Rep Power: 0 Yeah- only the proplelent in the can is flamable, but I wouldn't put non-high temp paint on the engine, it will burn up. I didn't know what Kragen was unti I moved to Cali- they don't have it in Boston.
