Anyone with a bodykit driven in NYC?

I don't yet have a body kit and my car is not lowered, but last week I drove to New York city and the roads in manhattan (especially in Harlem and the Bronx) are so F-ing bad that I'm sure I would have messed my car up bad if I didn't have the ground clearance that I do. I didn't see anyone else there with ground effects or lowered rides. PPl with lowered/body kits -What are your experiences with driving on bad roads? I want to know before I change my ride. Thanks.

u guys arent even from new york so what would u know? well my experience.. i bottomed out on stock suspension so u go figure. my car is dropped 2" and the stiffer rate keeps it of the rocks. but ive seen this one kid around my way that has a silver ex with xenon body kit. he has not rims or seem like he dropped suspension and he seem to be fine. my other friends, ones with accords civics and such that do have body kits dropped.. have scraped the ground and even chipped or totally broke off a piece of their front air dam. i guess u should leave height normal or just get prokits. cuz over here in NYC.. people scrape and chip their airdams with sportlines. on the other hand i dont have a body kit.. so it aint bad on mine.. just lil scrapes under my bumper behind the rubber lip.

i drove over manhattan to brooklyn and the bronx when i had my prokits and my oem body kit. I won't even think of going there with the drop on my car now with my GC's at 2.5 inches lower. Its so terrible over the BQE, and its even worst at china town. Don't bother dropping your car if you want to get from point a to point b in new york, your just gonna add to the bullcrap of new york driving, its bad enough you gotta deal with those cabs.

I agree with you on BQE but how can Chinatown be worse? It's all the same everywhere. GCP, LIE, Triboro Bridge, FDR, West Side Highway, everywhere. Even on the corner of 3rd and 86th in front of the movie theater. That'll give your rims a real bang if you're not careful.

Are you kidding me Otep12? You don't think those gigantic metal plates sticking out from the middle of canal street is worst? I beg to differ I just came from that area and thank god i didn't bring my car. West side highway isn't as bad as it used to be, but pretty much all the bridges in New York is crap. Your better off driving on the moon.

Those gigantic metal plates are everywhere dude. They use that to cover strips of road that they do repairs on. There are even ones that I think they put on permanently now. Like the one on the entrance to Triboro from 125th St.

West Side Highway below the 80's to Chelsea Piers isn't that bad if that's what your talking about. Take it going up to GWB and I'm sure you wouldn't want to pass there anymore. I'm sure that'll blow up my tires one of these days. Having a girl whos bestfriend living in Paterson, NJ sucks coz we have to pass there all the time.

Columbus circle had one of those in the ground sticking out of it. It scared the sh*t out of me. I had never seen those things before, I thought it was a door from the back of a transport truck on Broadway? Driving with those cabs was the worst driving experience of my life. I was so scared i was going to mess up my 2k1. I'm not 21 though, (well i am as of yesterday) so I couldn't rent a car there. Never again will I drive there in my own car.
