It threads directly into the...........
Have the recalls been done? Give me the VIN # of the car and I can check before you go any further.
Edit: Crap, I thought this said it was about an 06 Civic. What car is this?

if it's for a 7thgen, then it's easily replaceable.. It threads into a little.. bracket.. of sorts.. which bolts to the bottom mounting hole on the alternator. You should be able to take the little bracket piece off

#8 is the bracket the alternator tensioner bolt threads into
#12, although it doesn't picture it as a wingbolt, is the tensioner bolt.
$20.73 and $1.68, respectively, shipping and handling charges are extra.

I am racking my brain, I can't remember what it bolts to on the K motor. I know the tensioner sits where the power steering pump would go, but not what it bolts to.
Pick a bolt, any bolt.

Yup, if it's a D17 it's just a simple little bracket, should be very easy to replace.
Honda has done an excellent job confusing people with the Si/EX CDM/USDM naming variants.

Re: alternator tensioner bolt broke!!!!
Well thanks everyone for your replies needless to say the shop i used screwed up. no lock tight on the upper bolt on the alternator and cross threading or over tightening it. it backed out stripping the bolt and the mount out and all the tension snappedvthe lower bolt in the alternator. they over tightened the 10mm nut holding the positive on the alternator. snapped that off trying to get it off. over all had to replace the alternator and the mount total cost a weekend of frustration and 80$ in parts at the wreckers. also noticed my heat shield is cracked on the manifold is it possible to take that off and do away with it all together?
