Air Conditioning Not Right - Compressor? Clutch Fan?
Air Conditioning Not Right - Compressor? Clutch Fan?
I'm new here and I hope you can help. I have a 2001 Honda Civic with about 250,000 miles on it. I LOVE this car and have always maintained it. Recently, I noticed at an idle or when moving slow, the air was not coming out cold. Sent to my mechanic and he put some freon in it as it was low.
Okay, the air is colder now, however, it still blows out warm when idling or moving slowly. When going down the highway, it's fine. The engine seems to be bogging down when the compressor kicks on.....this has NEVER happened.
Is my compressor going out? Clutch Fan? Any ideas will be appreciated...and no...these are all original in the car. Thank you!

Re: Air Conditioning Not Right - Compressor? Clutch Fan?
Sounds like the a/c condensor fan isn't coming on. Should be an electric fan, i think. I'd look there....as for bogging when the compressor kicks on, maybe the compressor IS going bad. I would say that 250k is a good run for the stock compressor.
