Problem with my trunk lid.
Problem with my trunk lid.
It's perfectly flat...
Water sits on it. Dew sits on it. I'm afraid its going to give me rust issues. My trunk was rebuilt sometime before i bought the car. It's a 2001 coupe ex. Anyone got any tips?
thanks!

Re: Problem with my trunk lid.
How long of a period are we talking about? Where do you live? I've never garaged my car for nearly 10 years. I've rarely waxed my car. It's sat in the rain, fog, dew, etc., and I have never had a problem with rust on the flat surface of my trunk. You would be hard pressed to find any rust on my car, for that matter. My paint has always been pretty flawless. Unless you have exposed metal due to scratches/dings and/or have pre-existing rust, the trunklid is pretty impervious.
If you do have have exposed metal, touch up paint is a good idea after a thorough surface prep. POR-15 or Rust Converter, if needed. Then wax periodically (if you want extra protection). You should be golden after that.

Re: Problem with my trunk lid.
Get a carbon fiber one. . haha.
I have a 2001 and it's rusting along the bottom edges and I noticed it's rusting under my magnetic Sirius antenna. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do about that. I might pull it off and respray it, or I might get carbon fiber. .136k, it's never too late for a weight reduction is it?
