Instrument panel light. Please help!
Instrument panel light. Please help!
First of all let me say hello to everybody! This is my first post and I found this forum because I am having some difficulties with my car.
I hope somebody here knows what is going on.
I have a 2003 Civic EX and a few months ago two of the three buttons in my instrument panel stopped lighting up. Each button also has a small light that when pressed lights up to indicate that the button is pressed. The three little lights at the top of the buttons still work when pressed. Here is a picture of the panel:

And this is the problem I am experiencing:

It's not a life or death problem but I would like to get it fixed. I hope this is just an instrument panel bulb I can change somewhere. All the fuses under the hood look OK. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Alan

Thanks CraigW.
Do you think that is something I can do by myself?
I just never done anything like that before.
Any help or links would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Pretty much the same as a head unit changeout, 2 screws behind the panel at the bottom of the audio/hvac pod. The pod is tight if it has never been out. IIRC there is a crutchfield sheet I posted on here for the 7th gens.
The bulbs are a plastic base and bulb assembly twist to left for removal using a small flat blade screwdriver.
Get the bulb(s) before starting the job.

Re: Instrument panel light. Please help!
So I went the other day to buy the Panel tool. I had to go to 5 different auto parts store here in San Diego to get one! And I thought this was a pretty common tool!
As far as the bulbs the dealer asked $5 for each and they have to ship them from L.A. so I should get them by Thursday.
Thanks once again.

Re: Instrument panel light. Please help!
i wouldnt use any panel tool. once you remove the two screws from the bottom, you should be able to pull it out by grabbing the whole thing from the top two vents and pulling it out. just rotate the vents so that you get a good grip.
