No Beep when key left in/ lights left on....
No Beep when key left in/ lights left on....
I have a 2001 Civic EX that won't beep when I leave my keys in the ignition or leave my lights on. I have not been able to find the signal or where it originates in the wiring diagrams in my Hayne's manual. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place. I'm not sure if it is related but my passenger window will not roll down. I had messed with the master switch (driver's side control) and got it to work for a little bit but it reverted back to the original problem and I know the switch wasn't reading right for a little bit but it is something like $350 to replace. No junk yards around. to salvage one from. Are these issues related or does anyone have any ideas of where to start looking?

Take the covers off the steering wheel, it's 3 phillips head screws on the bottom. Then check for loose connections or abraded/broken wires.
The arrows point to the connectors. It's one of them, I can't remember which.:

Pull the door panel on the passenger side and disconnect the window actuator. Apply battery voltage to the connector and it will either work or not. If it doesn't work then it's a bad actuator. If it does then it's either a bad connection or wire between the actuator and master switch (driver's door) or the master switch. If you diagnose a bad master switch then I have one for a 2 door. PM me and we can work something out.

Thanks lazlong, I had already troubleshot it down to the switch before hand. I had checked the actuator a long time ago and it worked fine when jumped off the battery. I will check into the wires by the steering wheel tomorrow when I have light but most certainly thank you for the great start!
Re: No Beep when key left in/ lights left on....
Took all that off and found no loose or frayed wiring..... Any other ideas? Or what those wires might be called in the wiring diagram in my hayne's manual?

No one has any ideas past that? Any help with what it might be called in the wiring diagram and I can figure everything else out.... I work on electronics so its no biggy, but I need to have some idea of that.

I have seen some threads concerning Honda CRVs doing similar things, I will check them again. The MICU is central to a large amount of these small electrical jobs.
