My Engine is DONE!

So here is the deal... I have had my car for nintey days the fifth honda I have owned, a '02 EX, and last week my car started kicking real hard in higher RPM's, having a 2001 Prelude that does the same thing where the VTEC kicks in I was like cool, maybe the car is finally braking in!(BTW I also have i/h/e, and a short shifter) anyway yesterday I was on my way to work and the car still gettin up in the higher RPM's would "surge" after doing this a couple of times it just started knocking loud as hell and died! I looked in the engine bay and NO oil In the car at all! Also NO oil light in the dash or check engine light as well! I have changed my oil twice at 3 and 6000 miles! The car is in the garage at my work right now converting back to stock for a trip to the dealer tommorow. but my dealership sucks...if you have any knowledge of my situation and can help please tell me my rights if they try to fu@k me! thanks ~aj

Holy sh't...

Okay, if there was no oil in the engine, then it had to have left the engine somehow... odd that the car wouldn't tell you that. (Perhaps someone else could explain that.) Did the oil ever leave your engine from under the chassis? I don't see how oil would simply diminish from the engine... perhaps someone lifted your car and took nearly all the oil out of it and left no evidence? I dunno what else to say.

BTW, I like your latest mod. (except the hood but that's okay!)

you aren't the only one that has happened to.i bet you drive your car hard.thats what happened to me i had no oil, i checked under the car no leaks.the only thing i can think of is burning it .i took out everything in the engine that i modified and brought it to the dealer.the repair was crankshaft, connecting rod bearing, oil seals and some other stuff.this was gonna cost like $5000 to fix including labor.luckily for me i got it on warranty.
oh oil light didn't come on either but my check engine came on after it started knocking.
for them to cover it under warranty make it back to stock as best and lie,say you change your oil on scheduled maintenance.

Where did you get your oil changed, also check your drain plug in the pan and make sure its still there if not go back to the oil change place and rip them a new one and make them pay for it.

Allways check your OIL with every gas fillup.

There was a service bullitin about a leaky washer that was allowing for an oil leak. I don't remember the TSB# i'm sorry but when you go in let them know there is a service bullitin and make them find it. While you are at it b!itch about the sensor light not working.

Sounds like the 5W20 oil in there "evaporated like water".... This may be a good case for using Mobil 1 5w30 !

Well Bryan Honda called today and they're fixxing it they said "if" they get the parts in monday they will have it done thursday so no civic till then, when I asked about a loaner car they said call Honda...and ask them! I was like aren't you Honda, then he told me to call the coporate office, then I asked for a number to them, and they told me they didn't have one! Oh yeah the oil in the car WAS 5w30 mobil1 tri-synthetic(so don't count on that!)and also there was absolutly no leaks AT ALL.
ALSO 808 You're right brother IT'S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!bye bye CIVIC...hello RSX type S hopefully they thought about what they where doing when they made that one, and it'll work better!

I think the same thing is going to happen to my motor. I 've noticed lately it surges like my GSR (VTEC) when going over 5K RPM where it wasn't that noticeable before. Actually it almost feels like there's an interruption at first or like a LAG, and then it starts moving faster. My '01 EX coupe 5-sp. has 26k mi. and I only rev over 5K RPM maybe once or twice a week. The motor has also gotten much louder even at low RPMs so I thought it was time for a valve clearance adjustment but after reading this, I think my motor may be going. I don't think these motors can take high revving or any abuse at all. I beat the crap out of my '97 DX HB and it ran great when I sold it with 140k mi. I think Honda has messed up with this gen. for sure. I 've already been to the dealer 3-4 times for check engine lights, evap. valves and a dead alternator. I NEVER visited the dealer with my '97 DX!! RSXs (type-S mostly) have similar problems and there have already been several people with blown motors with rediculously low mileage. Go to an RSX forum before you buy an RSX!
I was planning on keeping this Civic for another 3yrs or so or until it hit 140-150k mi. (I do 40k/yr) but from the way things look I may be getting rid of it by the end of the year. I was considering getting a new Si but I 'm not so sure now as it has the RSX engine and RSXs are having their share of problems right now, probably not as much as our Civics but more than Integras for sure.

Si has RSX Engine? Your misguided........Civic Si's rev like hell with no problems, the b16 motors take plenty of abuse, the RSX should not blow unless you redlined it the day you bought it and didnt let the motor breakin for at least 10,000miles or so, even at 10,000miles I wouldnt redline it until it gets near 30,000miles, then the engine is completly broken in and ready for anything you can dish out granted you change your oil every 3000miles or 2500miles if you redline allot.

NEW si' keep in mind

the older Si's are #1 B16 was the magic engine, ask all the racers about the B series motors, they can take all you can dish out and come back asking for more, my buddy has a older Si' 1.6L B16 and he reved to 8500rpm and more somtimes (removed rev limiter) and the ride is still going He also changed his oil every 2500miles or when it got dark , that helps allot!

just ask all the racers. thats funny. the 99'-00' si did have the B16A2 engine. the USDM had it tuned to 160hp and the JDM had theres tuned to 185hp. and that engine is not number 1. i think the B18C1 is bc u boost that sucker u get so much power out of it. and bc of its longer stroke it has a little more torque which all hondas and acuras could use.

in racers I was referring to people who run at the track and used to run at the Night Races, and when I said B16 is #1 I was talking Civic's here dude, of course the B16 isnt the BEST Honda Motor overall but for Civic's it is. The B18C5 is the best motor, that sucker can push 9500rpm and boost like hell, I have whitnessed this setup on a Civic Hatchback that was so fast it was deadly.

Your a little bit wrong on the JDM engines. The JDM b16A puts out 170hp, and the super expensive and rare b16b (from the CTR) puts out 185.

the 7thgen is better than the other previous d16's in everyway. you have to check your car every other day for normal maintence; just cause its new doesnt mean that you dont have to check it out. and by the way, change your oil yourself and dont use synthetics until after 10k miles.

I agree, and let the motor BREAK IN for at least 10,000miles before you start redlining!

Yep, B18C1 (see my sig. heheh) is the motor for FI. The race shop I go to has 10sec. flat Civic DX coupe (gutted out) with a B18C1 and some crazy boost (l think 34lbs). The only reason they weren't in the 9's was because they used crappy slicks and it wheel hopped the whole 1/4 mi.!
The B18C5 (ITR motor) puts out the best #s all motor w/o FI. About 20 more HP at the wheels than a B18C1. You have to spend a lot of money though like my friend did to get it up to 210whp. With just head work, cams, exhaust, VAFC, ECU, etc. they 're easily in the 190's at the wheels. You definitely need to work on the bottom end to get it into the 200's. Even if you do all the work yourself, it will still cost you about $7-8K in parts without even including $1K+ for a decent exhaust system. The B16B by the way is not far behind. I know a guy that auto-xes with me once in a while that sank $20K into his CTR motor ('94 HB), suspension, and everything else, and it's up there in the 200's at the wheels. It's scary how much time (in the shop) and money these guys spend on their cars and most of them don't formally race them.

Anyway, had I known or suspected that I should go 10k mi. with my g7 Civic before I redlined it, I wouldn't have done it. I redlined my '97 Civic when it hit about 2k mi. and it rewarded me with 141k trouble free miles until the day I sold it. I first redlined my '01 around 3500 mi. and then about once every 1k mi. just to "clean the pipes" out The motor is definitely not it used to be. It's just noisier (that could be from a tiny exhaust leak or exhaust manifold, or just noisy valves..) but it does't seem to have lost any power. Then again the person that started this thread, his motor just went all of a sudden, so I probably won't know or get any warning/symptoms until it dies on me. Luckily I got a 100k mi. warranty and I don't plan on keeping this car till 140k like I had planned (like my '97) because I just don't trust it anymore after the probelms I 've had with it. We 'll see what happens..
