Post Code P0122 TPS Voltage Low. Possible Cause?

As most you you know, the east just got pounded with historic amounts of rain. I've never had my CEL come on until yesterday. I started my car up and it came on solid. I took my car to Advance and got the diagnostic on it. The only problem was Code P0122(TPS Voltage Low). It will run smoothly at times and then rough at times. I was wondering if the significant rain that we had here in Maryland could be the cause of the TPS voltage being low. I have never had a problem with this until the heavy rains came. The guy from advance said that it could be because of the rain. But I trust you all to give me the the straight facts. Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Code P0122 TPS Voltage Low. Possible Cause?

Ah, the beauty of Google

Causes
A code P0122 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

•TPS not mounted securely
•TPS circuit short to ground or another wire
•Faulty TPS
•Damaged computer (PCM)

Possible Solutions
Some recommended troubleshooting and repair steps are:
•Carefully check the throttle position sensor (TPS), wiring connector, and wiring for breaks, etc. Repair or replace as necessary
•Check the voltage at the TPS (refer to a service manual for your vehicle for specific information). If the voltage is too low that is indicative of a problem. Replace if necessary.
•If recently replaced the TPS may need to be adjusted. On some vehicles the installation instructions call for the TPS to be properly aligned or adjusted, consult a repair manual for specifics.
•If there are no symptoms at all, the problem may be intermittent and clearing the code may resolve the issue temporarily. If this is the case then you should definitely check the wiring to be sure it's not rubbing on anything, grounding, etc. The code may come back.

If you have a 7th gen I can give you the specifics on checking the TPS. Also, be prepared, the service manual said you have to get the whole throttlebody as the TPS doesn't come seperate.

Re: Code P0122 TPS Voltage Low. Possible Cause?

I would greatly appreciate if you could give me the specifics on checking the TPS lazlong because I really don't know very much about cars. I'm hoping that it is just something loose. If you could send me the specifics either on this post or in my inbox, along with the possible costs of the repair if it has to be done, that would be great. Thanks so much for your help.
