Sport w/ Type-S 2.0 Engine??

Hi, my partner bought a 2004 Civic Sport (EP2) Euro Spec and we think that it has had the engine changed.. The tech specs say top speed for a 1.6 Sport is 116 MPH but with one passenger we were able to do 130 MPH. Is there a possibility that it's just been tuned or would it be more like it's been replaced with a Type-S 2.0i VTEC?

We can't tell if it's a 1.6 or not from power because the clutch has almost gone so whenever we try and floor it in a low gear the car just revs

Cheers

They could of swapped in the better motor from the EP3. The Ep3 is the type r version of the EP2 which you probably kno that. Um is the motor backwards meaning the exhaust manifold facing toward the back of the car and the intake manifold facing the front.

Well I looked at the car manual and the layout of the engine bay is set out like the Type-R and not like a Sport.... I think once the clutch is fixed and I should be able to tell if it's a 1.6 or a 2.0

If you can't find the tranny stamp, there is an obvious visual difference between a SOHC and a DOHC engine..

If it is the ep3 type r motor then the engine code will be right below the throttle body. Its really hard to see actually, grab a flash light and look under there cause it is dark under there. It should be bout 5 inches below the throttle body somewhere.
