SRS light
SRS light
It just turned on today(bought the car a few weeks ago). I'm pretty sure it is the seat-belt retracting mechanism not functioning correctly. Has anyone got this fixed at a Honda dealer? If so what was the damage money wise?
Thanks guys

Re: SRS light
Unless I'm mistaken, it's be the buckle portion that causes the malfunction.

Re: SRS light
I have a tan driver side buckle sitting around with the electrical connections in tact... that's why I asked.
I'd have a passenger side one also if I knew where my black replacement ran away to..

Re: SRS light
There's a way to get the SRS code you're throwing.. I forgot how though. You may wanna find out before you get **** replaced.
Re: SRS light
Oh, i don't even want to fix it myself to tell you the truth. I'd rather have the pro's work on the important stuff. I'm just trying to get an idea of what it would cost, that way i'm prepared when i go to the dealer and I don't have a heart-attack.

I'm trying to find the DIY to pull the code.. From what I've been reading, it'll cost bank just to get the **** read @ the dealership.

Re: SRS light
I thought it was the seat-belt retracting mechanism because they don't retract for ****. But now that i'm reading up on it and i'm thinking it could be anything. I read that Honda extended the warranty on the SRS and they have a lifetime warranty on the seatbelts, so i'm def taking it to the dealer.
Re: SRS light
The retracting has nothing to do with the CEL. Mine retracts like **** too but I'm not throwing a code... get your code read, then you can start worrying about what your gonna fix.
Re: SRS light
pfft... your not to the point enough.. why beat around the bush when you can go right through it. Nevermind the cuts, those feel good.
that's why I followed up with the "code" post

Re: SRS light
Just remember. Down the river, not across the street. wait, what kinda cuts were we talking about again?

Re: SRS light
Another quality threadjacking... Damn we are good... the metaphoric cuts you get when you don't beat around the bush and tell someone how it is... Or the cuts when you ride your bicycle 50mph through a bush. F*@#&$!(
Re: SRS light
If it doesn't lock up when you slam on the brakes, something isn't working right with the retracting mechanism which will trip the codes. But yea, it could be something totally different, i'm just making that educated guess because i was noticing it locking up for no reason while driving.

Re: SRS light
Hopefully they don't charge you a metric ***-ton to get it read. From searching for the DIY pull your SRS codes, people been charged $85-$115 just to get the code read.
Re: SRS light
I hope not. My family has got a few cars from the Honda dealer here in town, and they seem to be good people from what my family has told me. But never dealt with them first hand... i guess i'll find out haha
Re: SRS light
Took it in, was told 106 bucks for just to read the code. They read it and it turned out to be the drivers side seat belt buckle so its all free. Thank god for a lifetime seatbelt warranty, or else that would have been at least 300bucks
