Unhappy Oil in spark plug hole?

I am new to this forum. My wife has a 2004 Civic with the 1.7. I went to change plugs, (100,000K) and when I pulled the first plug connector I found it full of oil??? Now this dose not seem right and when I pull the spark plug all this oil will fall into the cylinder. Anybody experience this? What needs to be done to fix it? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Dusty

Re: Oil in spark plug hole?

you need a new valve cover gasket set that also includes the four spark plug tube seals. remove the valve cover, replace the cover gasket, and also replace the round tube seals for each plug hole. put everything back together and retighten the bolts. those cover bolts are very delicate, i think you only torque them 7-10 ft/lbs, not much at all. too much and they will snap. the gasket set is around $25 at the auto store.
